1st Homicide of 2014 Reported in Camden

It took just two days for the city's first killing of the year.

Camden's first homicide of 2014 came not even 48 hours into the new year, after a man was found shot to death Thursday night in the city's Whitman Park neighborhood, authorities said.

Tristan Fulton, 39, was found in the 1600 block of Louis Street around 10:50 p.m., authorities said, after officers responded to a report of gunfire via the city's shot spotter network of microphones.

Fulton was dead at the scene, authorities said.

His shooting comes two days after a double homicide closed out 2013 with 57 homicides in the city, the third-worst in Camden history.
