Alleged Antifreeze Poisoning Leaves Brooklawn Woman Critical

Mary Groatman is in critical condition and her granddaughter-in-law, Anne Castagna, is in jail after the alleged poisoning.

A Brooklawn woman is on life support and her granddaughter-in-law has been charged with attempted murder after an alleged poisoning at a rehab center in Deptford this weekend.

Anne Castagna, 43, of Brooklawn, was arrested and charged with trying to kill Mary Groatman, 88, by using antifreeze at the rehab center Sunday, prosecutors said. The two women are related by marriage. 

Castagna, who was held in the Gloucester County Jail in default of $250,000 bail, faces two counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault. The incident remains under investigation by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office and Deptford police.

Groatman remains hospitalized in critical condition following the poisoning.
