Alleged Gun Runner Darnell Verdell Arrested

The Deptford man is accused of buying guns outside New Jersey and selling them in Camden.

A Deptford man who was out on parole after serving more than two years in state prison on drug convictions has been arrested and accused of running guns in Camden.

State Troopers and members of the state parole board arrested Darnell Verdell, 33, at the parole office in Vineland Monday, after an investigation by the New Jersey State Police Weapons Trafficking South Unit into Verdell’s activities, State Police said.

Verdell allegedly bought numerous guns outside the state and transported them to Camden, where State Police said he sold them to various individuals.

He was charged with unlawful possession of weapons, possession of weapons by a convicted felon, unlawful transportation and sale of firearms, and other weapons-related offenses.

Bail was set at $200,000, and Verdell is currently in the Camden County Jail on default of bail.
