Alleged Oakview Burglar Indicted for Theft, Conspiracy

Jesse C. Cheesman was allegedly an accomplice in at least one burglary on Barlow Avenue in December 2010.

One of two men allegedly involved in a string of burglaries in Harker Village and Oakview in late 2010 and early 2011 has been indicted on several charges related to those crimes.

Jesse C. Cheesman, who police said was an accomplice in the burglaries, was indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury on charges of fourth-degree theft, third-degree conspiracy to commit theft and third-degree conspiracy to commit burglary.

Cheesman was specifically targeted for a Dec. 23, 2010, burglary, where said a witness saw Cheesman and William M. Benner Jr. fleeing from a home on Barlow Avenue.

, about a week after West Deptford police caught Benner after he broke into multiple houses in a single night.

West Deptford police said Cheesman and Benner were likely the only ones responsible for a rash of home burglaries between December 2010 and March 2011.
