Armed Robber Hits Heritage’s on Delaware Street

A man in all black hits the store, stealing cash and cigarettes at gunpoint.

A man dressed head-to-toe in black robbed the on Delaware Street at gunpoint Thursday night, Chief Craig Mangano said.

The unidentified man walked into the convenience store just before 10 p.m., brandishing a black handgun, Mangano said, threatened an employee and demanded cash and cigarettes.

The traumatized employee was unable to give a description of the man beyond what he was wearing, Mangano said, which included a black ski mask, black jacket, black jeans, black shoes and black gloves.

After stealing an unspecified amount of cash and cigarettes, the robber took off east down Delaware Street, toward Woodbury, Mangano said. One of the department’s K-9 units was brought in to try to track the man, but that proved fruitless.

The incident is current under investigation, and Mangano asked anyone who might have seen anything or has information related to the incident get in contact with Detective Cpl. Richard Henry at 853-4599 x162.
