Camden County Police Officer From Deptford Charged With Lewd Act in Coffee Shop

The 17-year-veteran from Deptford was charged following an incident on May 7.

A Camden County Police Officer from Deptford has been removed from duty after being accused of committing a lewd act at a Starbucks in Cherry Hill, the Courier Post reports.

Lt. Benito Gonzalez Jr. was arrested on May 7 after allegedly pulling down his shorts in "an area where he could reasonably expect to be seen by a non-consenting party" and masturbating at a Starbucks on Route 70, according to the report.

He was seen by an employee, who reported the incident after Gonzalez left, according to the report.

Gonzalez oversees the Narcotics Unit for the Camden County Police Department. He is a veteran of 17 years and former member of the Camden City Police Department, according to the report.

He was charged with a disorderly persons lewdness charge. The investigation is ongoing, according to the report.
