Camden County Woman Gets 30 Years in Boyfriend's Murder

Paige Pfefferle stabbed Matthew Hus during an argument in 2010.

A Camden County woman who used a butcher knife to murder her boyfriend will spend the next three decades in prison after being sentenced Friday.

Paige Pfefferle, of Audubon Park, who had been convicted on charges of murder, hindering apprehension and weapons offenses for the 2010 murder of her boyfriend, Matthew Hus, won’t be eligible for parole until she’s 52 after being sentenced by Superior Court Judge Samuel Natal.

After Hus gave Pfefferle a ride to her parents’ home on Pelican Court in Audubon Park on Sept. 4, 2010, the couple got into an argument over whether Pfefferle should live at LaSalle University or move in with her parents, authorities said.

Minutes later, Pfefferle grabbed a knife out of a butcher block in the kitchen and stabbed Hus in the chest, authorities said.

Though Pfefferle’s parents called 911 and got Hus to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, he couldn’t be revived and died in the hospital.

Prosecutors argued Pfefferle lied about the circumstances of the stabbing, presenting evidence she gave conflicting reports of the circumstances around the attack.

Pfefferle initially told paramedics she didn’t know how Hus was injured, before later admitting he had been stabbed—but she claimed to have been holding the knife by her hip, and he walked into it.

An autopsy determined that story was impossible—Hus was killed by a downward thrust, and the fatal wound punctured his aorta.
