Robber Who Hit Camden, Burlington Banks Arrested, Police Say

Authorities say David J. Glenn, of Burlington Township, robbed two Delran banks within minutes in December, and a third in Bellmawr last week.

Authorities arrested a Burlington Township man Monday who they say robbed banks in both Camden and Burlington counties in recent weeks, including one incident where he knocked over a pair of Delran banks in a matter of minutes last month.

David J. Glenn, 22, most recently hit the TD Bank in Bellmawr, authorities said, with that latest robbery coming about four weeks after he allegedly robbed tellers at the 3rd Fed and Roma banks in Delran.

Glenn passed a note to a teller at the Bellmawr branch last Wednesday demanding money and claiming he had an unspecified weapon, authorities said, but he never pulled it out and took off running once he had the cash in hand.

Similarly, Glenn passed a note demanding money that threatened he had a gun when he robbed the 3rd Fed Bank on Bridgeboro Road in Delran at 1:10 p.m. Dec. 12, authorities said.

He never pulled the gun, authorities said, and on his way out of the bank, Glenn also stole the keys to a teller’s 2001 Nissan Pathfinder, which he immediately used to drive around the corner—approximately 1/10 of a mile away—to the Roma Bank on Hartford Road.

Once inside Roma, Glenn pointed a gun at a teller and a security guard and demanded cash, authorities said, then took off from the bank in the stolen SUV. The vehicle was later found abandoned in a nearby condominium development on the 200 block of Lawrence Lane, with the gun used in the Roma Bank robbery still inside, authorities said.

Glenn was arrested Monday night at a house in Newark by the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Unit and the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force.

For the Delran robberies, Glenn is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of robbery, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, carrying a handgun without a permit, terroristic threats and theft by unlawful taking. He’s charged with robbery in Camden County as well.

Glenn's Delran jobs were among 24 bank robberies in Burlington County in 2013, and several remain unsolved. Nineteen of those robberies, including those Glenn is charged with, occurred in the final two months of the year.

Glenn’s bail was set at $350,000, with no 10 percent option, by Superior Court Judge Susan Claypoole, and he is lodged in Burlington County Jail. The case will be referred to a grand jury for indictment.

In addition to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Delran Police Department, Essex County Sheriff’s Department, East Windsor Police Department, FBI, U.S. Marshals Service and the Willingboro Police Department assisted in the investigation.
