Deptford Man Sentenced to 20 Years For Receiving Child Pornography

Byran Jacobs pleaded guilty to posing a Philadelphia woman online to obtain sexually explicit photos of a male minor.

A Deptford man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for receiving images of child sex abuse, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced Wednesday night.

Bryan Jacobs, 43, previously pleaded guilty to one count of a superseding indictment charging him with receipt of child pornography.

He was also sentenced to 15 years supervised release, with restitution to be determined at a later date.

Jacobs has been in custody since his arrest in January 2010 on a criminal complaint charging him with related conduct.

Jacobs created a fake profile on MySpace, according to documents filed in the case and statements made in court. Posing as “Brianna,” a young woman supposedly from Philadelphia, he engaged a male minor in chats on the social networking website.

The minor sent sexually explicit pictures of himself to Jacobs, thinking he was sending them to Brianna. Jacobs downloaded those pictures to his computer.

Fishman credited special agents of the U.S. Secret Service, Philadelphia Field Office, under the direction of Special Agent in Charge Cynthia R. Wofford; and the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Prosecutor Sean F. Dalton, with the investigation.
