Dwayne M. Chorney Jr. Pleads Guilty in Williamstown Burglaries

Chorney was caught after leaving a W-2 tax form behind at the scene of one of his crimes.

A Williamstown man who was caught after leaving a W-2 tax form behind at the scene of a break-in now faces three years in prison and up to $40,000 in restitution after he pleaded guilty Monday to multiple charges.

Dwayne M. Chorney Jr., 28, admitted to a pair of January burglaries in Monroe Township in pleading guilty to two charges of burglary, one of theft and one of receiving stolen property.

Chorney admitted he burglarized one home on Jan. 23, a mere block from where he was living, and broke into a safe to steal between $28,000 and $30,000 in cash as well as jewelry.

Under the plea agreement negotiated by Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph More, Chorney also admitted to a Jan. 11 burglary in Monroe Township, where he stole a television, jewelry and several coins, a Nov. 26, 2011, theft of $6,000 worth of jewelry from a Franklin Township home, and receiving a $1,700 ring stolen on July 13, 2011 from a Williamstown woman.

As part of the plea agreement, Assistant Prosecutor More will recommend a three-year prison sentence and restitution. Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. scheduled sentencing for Sept. 29.
