Fugitive Arrested, Accused in West Deptford Oxy Sale

Thomas Kersey, of Deptford, was picked up Wednesday by the county's fugitive task force. He was wanted for an alleged January 2013 drug sale.

A man accused of selling the highly addictive prescription drug oxycodone in West Deptford was arrested Wednesday.

Police considered Thomas Kersey, 23, of Gilbert Avenue, Deptford, a fugitive. Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office’s fugitive unit took Kersey into custody with an assist from the office’s Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force.

Officers accuse Kersey of selling oxycodone, a narcotic used to treat pain, in West Deptford on Jan. 3. They took him into custody at his girlfriend’s Sewell home. Kersey is jailed on $50,000 bail.

Kersey previously was imprisoned on three convictions—knowingly receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and burglary, according to state records. He was sentenced to a maximum of three years on each count in February 2011, and was released from prison four months later.
