The Grenloch man arrested in connection with $70,000 in stolen goods—including a Babe Ruth-signed baseball—is in more legal hot water.
Matthew Brangan, 26, was on the Gloucester County sheriff’s most wanted list at No. 10. His arrest in West Deptford on Jan. 25 caused him to be jailed on the county’s charges. Brangan was held for failing to appear on Dec. 11, 2012, in front of a Superior Court judge. He was on probation for theft by unlawful taking, according to the Gloucester County sheriff.
West Deptford Police arrested Brangan earlier in the week on suspicion he carried out two burglaries in town. The thefts included prescription drugs, tools, electronics and the baseball signed by Babe Ruth, totaling $70,000. Most of the items were returned.
Brangan, who has a previous burglary conviction on his record, was held after his arrest at the Gloucester County Jail on a no-bail warrant.
His arrest marks the 66th fugitive arrested since the Gloucester County Sheriff’s Department debuted its most wanted list in January 2010. Another spot opened up this week—No. 4 Skyler Robinson was arrested in Camden.
The sheriff’s most wanted list is online, with the suspect’s photo, physical descriptors, alleged crimes and possible whereabouts. Anyone with tips on a most wanted suspect should call Chief Ken Villanova at 856-384-4625. All calls are kept confidential.
Under no circumstances should civilians attempt to apprehend any of the suspects, authorities added.
