Isaac’s Remnants Could Cause Flooding Through Wednesday

The last stray bits of what was Hurricane Isaac will blow through Wednesday, and State Police and the National Weather Service are warning drivers to watch for flooded roads as scattered storms move through during the day.

With the forecast indicating another inch of rain is possible on top of the three inches of rain that was recorded at Philadelphia International Airport through the day Tuesday, there’s a risk some low-lying roads could end up under water.

“Be alert for ponded water on the roadways, a frequent result of flash flooding,” the State Police said in an advisory. “Do not try to drive or walk through standing water.”

It only takes about six inches of moving flood water to knock down a person, and two feet of moving water is enough to carry off most cars and SUVs, according to information from the National Weather Service.

Flooding like that is common on portions of Crown Point Road, where firefighters had to rescue a driver this time last year when .

No major flooding was reported in West Deptford Tuesday, township fire officials said.
