More than a year after a crash that claimed the life of Sewell resident Jenita Noel, the diver of the vehicle has been indicted by a Gloucester County grand jury.
Karon Blanton, 33, of Woodbury, is charged with vehicular homicide; drunken driving with a suspended license causing an accident and death; and assault by auto, all from a single-car crash just before 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2011 that caused Noel’s death.
Noel was flung from a 2004 Chevy Impala when Blanton lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a wall while traveling on I-295 in West Deptford. Noel was pronounced dead after being flown to Cooper Trauma Center in Camden.
The two other passengers in the car were transported by ambulance to Cooper, but did not sustain any serious injuries.
Blanton, who was uninjured, was held in the Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 full cash bail following the crash.
