Minor Electrical Fire Hits Deptford Mall

A minor fire Friday night cut power to much of the Deptford Mall, though there were no injuries or major damage reported.

Mall representatives said the fire was contained to an electrical room, and repairs were being made.

The incident was originally called out as a fire at Ruby Tuesday near the Sears anchor on the south side of the mall. Mall employees said the fire was actually near the food court, however.

Numerous fire trucks and emergency responders were on scene into the night Friday.

The mall is closing at 5 p.m. Saturday because of Hurricane Irene.
