No charges have been filed yet following in West Deptford for several hours Monday, State Police said Tuesday.
The initial reports indicated motorcyclist Dane Walker, 48, while trying to cross from the far right lane to the far left lane, police said.
Walker may have been speeding and weaving through traffic prior to the crash, Sgt. Brian Polite said, referencing the initial investigation.
Walker was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden following the crash, where he was in critical but stable condition. Several people who drove through the crash scene reported blood splashed on the median barrier near Walker’s wrecked bike, which came to rest between Exits 22 and 23, in the area of West Deptford High School.
Charges may still be filed in the crash—state troopers were on the scene for several hours following the incident, and Polite said it’s still considered an active investigation.
Walker, who is listed as the vice president of the Deptford-based NeX Level motorcycle club on the club’s website, highlights his hobby on his Facebook page. Besides featuring several photos of him racing a bright-yellow Honda sport bike with an Autobots logo at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, Walker references going 140 mph during one raceway run.
Family members and friends left messages of support for Walker on Facebook in the hours after the accident.
"Sending get well wishes and prayers your way big cousin," Kylena Lee wrote late Monday night. "Stay strong and keep your head up."
