One Dead in Crash on Route 295, Woodbury Driver Charged

A Sewell woman was killed in a single-car crash on Route 295 in West Deptford. The Woodbury driver faces multiple charges.

An early morning single-car crash on Route 295 in West Deptford claimed the life of a Sewell woman.

Front seat passenger Jenita Noel, 31, died from her injuries after she was thrown from the car, state police said.

The incident happened at 12:48 a.m. Saturday. State police said driver Karon Blanton, 32, of Woodbury, lost control of the 2004 Chevy Impala and slammed into a wall.

He is charged with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and causing death while driving with a suspended license. Blanton was lodged in Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 full cash bail. He was uninjured.

Following the crash, Noel was flown to Cooper University Trauma Center in Camden, and pronounced dead there. Two other passengers were sent by ground transportation to Cooper, and were not seriously injured, police said.
