One Dead in Crash on Route 295, Woodbury Driver Charged

A Sewell woman was killed in a single-car crash on Route 295 in West Deptford. The Woodbury driver faces multiple charges.

An early morning single-car crash on Route 295 in West Deptford claimed the life of a Sewell woman.

Front seat passenger Jenita Noel, 31, died from her injuries after she was thrown from the car, state police said.

The incident happened at 12:48 a.m. Saturday. State police said driver Karon Blanton, 32, of Woodbury, lost control of the 2004 Chevy Impala and slammed into a wall.

He is charged with vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and causing death while driving with a suspended license. Blanton was lodged in Gloucester County Jail on $250,000 full cash bail. He was uninjured.

Following the crash, Noel was flown to Cooper University Trauma Center in Camden, and pronounced dead there. Two other passengers were sent by ground transportation to Cooper, and were not seriously injured, police said.

Jenita was a co-worker and a very good friend of my wife Barbara Brooks and I also was a friend of hers and Karon's. This is very very very sad news. My prayers go out to the family of Ms. Noel. - Corey Willis

People who drink and drive should have their car confiscated forever and they should NEVER be given a driver's license. This man belongs in jail for driving drunk and taking the life of a young woman.

Heart felt prayers to BOTH the Noel and the Blaton families. To Karon I pray for you and your children although I only met you once I appreciated your kindness. Jenita was a good friend and co-worker who I know loved you as much as you loved her and I pray that you can take comfort in knowing that. Rest well Jenita, you will be greatly missed..... Please Pray for their Children.

I understand your frustration in cases of drunk drivin, however the news will feed what they feel will make a story "Karon was not the cause of the accident" the full details of the story were not published and I WILL NOT let anyone who does not know the full truth to convict of my frds in the matter. Karon has been by Jenita's side since the 6th grade and Im sure he feels bad enough w/out him being the blame when in fact he was not...My Blessings and prayers go out to the Noel and Blanton families....Please everyone keep the children in prayer for at this point they have lost both thier mother and father ~N. He may be a "great man" in your estimation, but he has been charged with "Vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license." That does NOT define a "great man" but rather a drunk driving with a suspended license who killed a young woman by his drunken carelessness. WHEN YOU DRINK, LET OTHERS DRIVE. And in fact, he had no business driving with a suspended license. Did anyone every wonder WHY his license was suspended? No, he is NOT a "great man", he is clearly a DRUNK WHO KILLED A YOUNG WOMAN.

I'm not sure how an intoxicated driver, driving without a license, gets involved in a single vehicle accident and you can claim the driver "was not the cause of the accident". Please tell us who is to blame, if not the person behind the wheel. The idea of personal responsibility is dying, especially in "Progressive Paradises" like NJ. People do irresponsible, stupid, and even evil things, and then they want to blame everyone else for it. Your frd[sic] messed up and he will be held accountable sooner or later.

I hope and pray that from this accident, young people realize that life is short and the part people forget about is life after death ......Heaven or Hell ? No one should be blamed ...Not God ,Satan or man....God gave us all free will...and with it comes consequences....FROM YOUTH MINISTER GP

According to the police report, this man DROVE WHILE DRUNK, HE HAD A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT ALL. I have no problem with his drinking but I have a BIG problem with his carelessness and disobeying the law. WHEN YOUR LICENSE IS SUSPENDED IT MEANS THAT YOU DO NOT DRIVE, AND TO DRIVE ON A SUSPENDED LICENSE WHILE DRUNK IS INEXCUSABLE, IT MEANS HE BROKE THE LAW AND NOW A YOUNG WOMAN IS DEAD. He is clearly a person who needs to be in jail and punished for what he did. WHEN YOU DRINK DO NOT DRIVE. WHEN YOUR LICENSE IS SUSPENDED, DO NOT DRIVE. Because he chose to disobey the law any sympathy given to him invalidates the life of the young woman who died as a result of his breaking the law.

Don't get on here giving opinions Dorothy Sinkler if you don't know what your talking about. And for your information God will be on his side. I pray an accident never happens in your family and people start judging them not knowing what they're talking about. So be quiet to you know the entire story. He's innocent.

Its crazy how many people are going on & on about Karon being such a horrible person. yeah, it was stupid to get in the car drunk. & he wont ever be able to forget that. but i can tell you he loved Jenita, adored Jenita & their kids. one mistake has changed his life forever & nobody is in any position to put him down further. karon may possibly be one of the brightest, sweetest, funniest people i know. no matter where he is or what he's doing when i see him he always makes a point to stop & say hi & ask how everything is. i mean, they lived across the street from me for years. i just saw the both of them at the hospital a few weeks ago & i remember thinking "they've been together as long as i can remember" their kids have to be some of the sweetest most intelligent kids and my prayers are with Jenitas family & those beautiful kids.

Well because you said so, I guess he must be "innocent". Here we have another person who is telling us to "be quiet" until we "know the whole story", followed by a proclamation that this man is innocent. Meanwhile, no facts have been offered that show anything but what we already know: He was drunk. He did not have a license. It was a single car accident. And there is a woman who died because of it. So please, tell us the "entire story". We are all awaiting with baited breath the harrowing tale of wrongful accusations.
John Hayden September 22, 2011 at 02:57 PM
I don't recall reading anything about him being a horrible person, though one person did contend the claim that he was a "great man". I, and others, have simply said that he is the person responsible in this accident.

I used to live in Sewell 7 years ago. I believe I've met her. I'm very sorry.

Oh, but there are two victims, surely.
Dorothy Sinkler September 23, 2011 at 09:38 AM
An accident did happen to a very dear friend of mine, and he lies dead because of a DRUNK DRIVER. Perhaps you did not read the police report with an open mind. This man may be a very good friend of yours, I have no issue with that. What I have an issue is that you are defending a DRUNK DRIVER WHO DROVE WITH A SUSPENDED LICENSE AND NOW A YOUNG WOMAN IS DEAD. AN CALLING HIM "INNOCENT" IS SICK AND DISGUSTING.

First of all yes he had been drinking but he was not intoxicated. Secondly he did not cause the crash one of the back seat drivers grabbed the wheel because things was not going his way. Karon is out of jail and home with his children.....because his wrong doings where not the cause of the accident. So again before you run your mouth know the story and just so you know his charges where changed! People are quick to just he will live with the pain from that night for the rest of his life, because his life partner and the mother of his children is dead...and to a degree it is his fault. GROW UP THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!!!
SAM I AM September 23, 2011 at 02:06 PM
And that person is confirming his story!!!!!!!
