Paulsboro Sex Offender Denied Visitation with Son

A sex offender from Paulsboro lost his bid for visitation with the son he fathered with one of his underage victims.  

A state Appellate Court panel on Tuesday rejected Pietro J. Parisi Jr.'s motion to withdraw his guilty pleas to sexual assault charges. Parisi contended he wasn't aware when he entered his plea in 2003 that his custody or visitation rights could be restricted. 

In a 12-page, unpublished opinion, a two-judge panel found these restrictions were triggered by Parisi's guilty pleas to separate sexual-assault and child-endangerment charges in 1996, and that the restrictions already applied to him when he pleaded guilty to the new charges. 

Parisi "is unable to show prejudice by his lack of information before entering his plea in 2003 because whatever the ultimate consequences ... they were produced by the original plea in 1996," the appellate judges wrote.

Parisi, 39, had sexual relations with three children under age 16. The son he fathered with one of them was born in September 2008, after the crimes occurred. 

The appellate opinion indicates the child was removed from the custody of both parents shortly after his birth, but does not state why. 

Parisi is serving a six-year sentence in state prison for Megan's Law violations. 

Assistant County Prosecutor Dana Anton, who argued against Parisi’s original plea-withdrawal motion in state Superior Court in Woodbury, said in a statement Tuesday: “A sex offender such as Parisi should not be permitted contact with any children, period."
