Police Hunt Gunman in West Deptford Shooting

Gunfire at a West Deptford apartment complex Thursday night sent one man to the hospital with superficial wounds and has police from two towns looking for a suspect.

At 8:20 p.m. on June 20, West Deptford and Woodbury police responded to a call of multiple gunshots fired at 601 Tatum Street, the address of the Westwood Court apartment complex.

Police say Daryl K. Jones, 29, of West Deptford, was in the courtyard of the apartment complex when a fight between some unknown individuals resulted in gunplay.

Jones, who had not been involved in the altercation, was shot in his right hip and right elbow. He was taken to Cooper Hospital in Camden and was released after a few hours.

The shooter, who has not yet been identified, was described as a tall, black male with a husky build and full-sleeve tattoos. He was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. Police say that after the shots were fired, the man fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

The incident is being investigated by the West Deptford police department with the help of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.
