Police Investigating Robbery at West Deptford Heritage's

Police have a description of the suspect and are looking for any information related to the incident.

West Deptford police are seeking information about a strong-arm robbery that occurred Sunday evening at the Heritage's convenience store in the 700 block of Delaware Street.

Around 9:30 p.m. on January 19, a man approached the counter at the store and allegedly demanded $20 bills from the register.

The suspect never threatened the clerk nor displayed a weapon, but did "reach into his pocket implying that he had a weapon," according to West Deptford Police Chief Samuel DiSimone.

The clerk then responded, "Are you serious?", DiSimone said, before handing over an estimated $150 to $180 in ten- and twenty-dollar bills.

After suspect received the money, he allegedly left the store, running west on Delaware Street. West Deptford K9 units tracked his scent to a few blocks away before the trail went cold, the chief said.

"We believe [the suspect] probably had a car waiting for him," DiSimone said. "The dog was tracking really well."

The alleged robber is described as a thinly built, white male in his late teens or early twenties, about five-feet-eight-inches to five-feet-ten-inches tall.

He was reportedly dressed entirely in black clothing, police said, including a black hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask, and a black leather Coogi-style jacket, black pants, and black shoes.

A ski mask covered most of the man's face, but the clerk described him as having greenish eyes, and maybe freckles.
