A motorcyclist who State Police said may have been speeding and weaving through traffic remains in Cooper University Hospital after .

The preliminary investigation, which indicated the two factors, also showed the man, whose name has not yet been released, was attempting to go from the far right lane to the far left lane when the accident occurred around 3 p.m., Sgt. Brian Polite said.

After hitting a 16-foot trailer landscaping trailing, which was being towed behind a pickup, the motorcyclist was thrown from his bike, Polite said. The extent of his injuries wasn’t known late Monday night.

One person who drove through the closure, where the wrecked motorcycle and a helmet were lying in the roadway, said there was blood visible on the median barrier near where the accident occurred.

The crash essentially shut down a two-mile stretch of highway through the late afternoon, after accident investigators closed two northbound lanes between Exits 22 and 23 near West Deptford High School around the accident scene.

As state Department of Transportation trucks directed drivers through and around the closure, investigators spent hours going over the site.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

My husband and I saw a motorcyclist like this doing the same kind of thing last week while we were driving north on 295. How dangerous!

I see it literally every morning. It is ridiculous and scary for me as a motorist. They need to be pulled over and FINED hugely. Arrogance to the fullest extent I say.
