Prosecutor's Office Arrests 5 in Fugitive Sweep

The men taken into custody were wanted on charges ranging from failure to register as a sex offender to drug distribution.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office Fugitive Investigation Unit captured five wanted persons just before the Fourth of July holiday, including a Williamstown man who was arrested by U.S. marshals in Kissimee, FL.

That was Dannie Garwood Jr., a 29-year-old Williamstown man who had been charged June 28 in Monroe Township with: robbery, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and theft.

Twenty-four-year-old Anthony P. Gellura of Westville was charged last July with armed robbery in Deptford and failed to appear for a Superior Court status conference on the case on June 25 of this year.

Michael D. White, a 23-year-old Clayton man, was arrested on warrants for: possession of a deadly weapon, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, offensive touching, reckless endangering and endangering the welfare of a child while committing a crime.

William E. Oldham, 36, of Williamstown, was arrested for failure to appear at a pre-sentencing interview after he pleaded guilty in May for failing to register with police as a sex offender.

Lastly, 24-year-old Michael A. Thorton of Glassboro was taken into custody on a warrant for failing to appear for Superior Court arraignment on charges of marijuana distribution.

All were held without bail.
