Remains of Monroeville Woman Discovered in Egg Harbor Twp.

Reports have identified the victim as Tara Rogers Alicea, a 30-year-old mother of two. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Authorities in Atlantic County have determined the identity of a homicide victim whose remains were discovered in the woods in Egg Harbor Township as a 30-year-old mother of two from Monroeville.

The remains of Tara Rogers Alicea were discovered by a hunter on January 5, according to a statement from the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office (ACPO).

She was reportedly strangled to death, according to the state medical examiner, which ruled the death a homicide. Authorities say Alicea was identified by photographs of her tattoos.

Other reported details of the case would seem to deepen the tragedy of her violent end.

Alicea's remains were found "stuffed in a suitcase", according to Philly.com; her mother had reported her missing October 22, said NJ.com, which also noted that Alicea may have been living on the streets of Atlantic City.

Those with information related to the case are asked to call the ACPO Major Crimes Unit at 609-909-7666.
