Man Charged With Wendy's Armed Robbery Denied Bail Reduction
Marvin O. Jones has a record in Virginia that includes grand larceny and narcotics convictions and a still-pending criminal charge that was not specified.
Marvin O. Jones, 27, was charged with second-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree certain persons not to possess a weapon, third-degree theft and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
Jones's lawyer claims he can only raise $3,000 for bail. His request for bail reduction was denied because his record in Virginia includes grand larceny and narcotics convictions and a still-pending criminal charge that was not specified.
The “very serious” armed robbery charges and his contacts with the justice system in Virginia “increase the flight risk” for Jones, according to Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr., who oversaw Friday's hearing.
Jones also has three municipal court convictions and a juvenile theft in New Jersey.

Investigators became suspicious of details she provided concerning the robbery, ultimately resulting in her surrender on Feb. 7.
She claimed she was thrown on the floor by the robber, but Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Joseph Enos noted in court on Friday that she wasn't wet, despite the fact that the floor was.
“There were some things that caused them (detectives) to wonder,” Enos said.
Jones allegedly jumped through a glass window at the restaurant, which was closed at the time, after firing a pistol through it.

“I know you’ve got four (cash) tills,” he allegedly told employees once he was inside.
Employees told investigators it also appeared Jones knew there were "panic buttons" in the restaurant. Enos said both these factors indicated the robbery was an inside job.
Although no one was physically injured in the incident, Enos said at least one employee had to pull her car to the side of the road due to a "panic attack" while on her way to see the prosecutor. The same worker had to be removed from the night shift at the restaurant.
