Skydiver Who Died in South Jersey Sunday Had Over 350 Jumps

The man who died in Washington Township after a skydiving accident was an experienced skydiver with over 350 jumps, according to the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office.

Arkady Shenker, a Brooklyn man who would’ve been 50 years old on Friday, was skydiving from Freefall Adventures in Monroe when his specialized “wing suit” failed and he crashed in a Sewell resident’s backyard, according to the prosecutor’s office.

He was one of 16 who boarded the plane to go skydiving on Easter Sunday. He was in the fourth group of skydivers that departed from Cross Keys Airport where Freefall is located. He went to Freefall to skydive alone.

Freefall’s last skydiving fatality was in 2012, according to The Courier Post. Other fatalities occurred in 2011, 2005, 2004 and 2002, according to the report.
