State Police ID Body Found in Woodbury Creek

The Philadelphia man was not a victim of foul play, police said.

State police have identified a man's body in Woodbury Creek. 

The man was identified as 33-year-old Joshua Waddell of Philadelphia, said Sgt. Brian Polite, a state police spokesman. 

Police identified Waddell's body Tuesday, after one of his friends saw media reports about the unidentified body. The friend recognized the on Waddell's wrist in a photo released by authorities, and called State Police, Polite said Wednesday.

An autopsy revealed that Waddell died of an apparent accidental drug overdose, according to Polite, who added that investigators are still trying to determine how the man's body ended up in the water. 

Polite said previously that there were no signs of foul play.

A surveyor found Waddell's body floating in the creek Friday afternoon, in the branch between Edwin Avenue and Matteo & Sons scrapyard.
