Truck Fire Shuts Down 295 in Camden County

A tractor trailer overturned and caught fire just before rush hour Thursday.

A tractor-trailer fire that shut portions of Route 295 in Camden County is under control as of 4:37 p.m., according to emergency radio reports.

Police shut down the highway after the accident, which happened around 3:30 p.m. Northbound lanes were stopped completely, while one southbound lane was open in the area of the accident, which happened near the Woodcrest exit.

Television reports showed the overturned truck and a gray SUV on the highway.

Traffic is snarled northbound on Route 295 starting around the Route 42 interchange, and is backed up to north of Kresson Road on the southbound side. Police have advised drivers to seek alternate routes as emergency crews clean up at the scene.
