Two Plead Guilty in Robbery of Westville Seniors

Christopher Hyatt and Roberto Mercado will face jail time.

Two men arrested for the robbery of an elderly Westville couple pleaded guilty to the crime on Friday.

Westville resident Christopher Hyatt, 19, and 21-year-old Camden resident Roberto Mercado will be recommended to serve eight and five years, respectively, according to a statement from the Gloucester County Prosecutors Office.

Hyatt also pleaded guilty to an additional robbery and burglary.

The state also recommended that both men serve 85 percent of those terms before they are eligible for parole. 

Hyatt and Mercado are scheduled for sentencing August 16.
