Wanted: Nina C. Martin

Martin failed to appear for a pre-arraignment hearing on a heroin possession charge.

Nina C. Martin, 28 of West Deptford, is wanted by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office for failure to appear in Superior Court, Woodbury on April 9 for a pre-arraignment interview on a heroin possession charge.

She is described as 5-foot-8, 140 pounds with green eyes and brown hair. She has a tattoo of Chinese writing on her left forearm and her first name tattooed on her right arm. She has three stars tattooed on her right wrist, a gypsy zombie tattooed on her right arm, flowers tattooed on her right leg, a map of New Jersey tattooed on her right forearm, and stars tattooed on her right foot.

While working a DWI enforcement detail on Dec. 18, 2013, a West Deptford police officer stopped a motor vehicle for failing to have an illuminated rear license plate.  Observing that a vehicle passenger, defendant Martin, was not wearing a seat belt, the officer requested identification.

She had none and the officer reported she nervously gave a name other than Martin.  In a check on the driver for warrants, the officer learned who the driver’s female companion might be.

A license check confirmed she was defendant Martin and she had several active warrants.  She was arrested.  What appeared to be bloodstains were observed on her jeans, an indication to the officer of injectable drug use.

A search of a backpack that was at her feet in the car found syringes, needles and three folds of suspected heroin. The needles were not seized since she had a NJ Needle Exchange Card.  She was charged with a narcotics offense.

A Gloucester County grand jury indicted Martin on March 26 of this year on a charge of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the defendant should not attempt to apprehend her. Instead, contact the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-384-5643 or GCPO Lt. Barry Johnson at 856-498-5485.
