Richard Smith, 33, of Franklinville, is wanted for failure to appear in Superior Court, Woodbury on March 12, 2014. He was scheduled for a pre-arraignment interview on charges of possession more than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

The defendant is 5-foot-8, 180 pounds and has hazel eyes and brown hair.  He has a tattoo on his abdomen (reign); a tattoo on the left side of his forehead;  a tattoo on his ankle (BOSP); a tattoo on his left arm  (Gabrielle); and a tattoo on his left shoulder (heart, praying hands).

On July 18, 2013, a Logan Township police K-9 handler was contacted by a West Deptford police officer to provide assistance following a motor vehicle stop and subsequent investigation.  The Logan officer responded to a towing service yard where the vehicle was impounded.

The officer’s dog, trained in narcotic detection, reacted near the vehicle’s rear driver’s side quarter-panel.  As a result of the investigation, both occupants of the vehicle, including Smith, were arrested on narcotics charges.

A Gloucester County grand jury indicted Smith on Feb. 26, 2014 on charges of third-degree possession of more than one ounce of marijuana with intent to distribute and fourth-degree possession of marijuana.

Anyone who knows the whereabouts of the defendant should not attempt to apprehend him. Instead, contact the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office at 856-384-5643 or GCPO Lt. Barry Johnson at 856-498-5485.   Anonymous tips can be provided by texting GLOTIP & your message to CRIMES  (274637).
