WD Police Investigating Hydrant Vandals

West Deptford Police are looking for more information on who removed a fire hydrant from its place in the ground sometime early last week.

Under normal circumstances, only the fire department has any concern about a fire hydrant.

became a part of a police investigation after one was found lying out of place last Tuesday. 

Police chief Craig Mangano said that the fire hydrant, which is located on Crown Point Road just south of the Crown Point Truck Stop, was found by a township employee on Jan. 8. It is unknown when the fire hydrant was removed, but police suspect it happened between 4 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7 and 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

Mangano reported that the case does not appear to be an attempted theft and the hydrant did not appear to be hit by a vehicle. West Deptford Police are still investigating the case.
