West Deptford Bank Robbery Nets Camden Man Nine-Year Sentence

Angel Martinez will serve 110 months in prison for the January robbery.

A Camden man will spend just over 9 years in prison for the January robbery of the West Deptford TD Bank after being sentenced Monday.

Angel Luis Martinez, 53, had , which took place at the bank's branch at Parkville Station Road and Mantua Pike, and faced up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

U.S. District Judge Joseph E. Irenas, who accepted that plea, imposed Martinez’s sentence of 110 months in prison, which also included three years of probation and restitution for the $10,000 he stole from the bank.

According to police statements, Martinez, dressed in a black leather jacket and black knit cap, entered the bank around 9 a.m. on Jan. 25, approached a teller and threatened her, saying, “”

The teller complied with his demand, and got the cash from the vault while Martinez waited nearby. After Martinez got the cash, he fled in a plum-colored Toyota Camry.

Despite his threat, West Deptford police said Martinez never showed a gun during the course of the robbery.
