West Deptford Man Comes Home, Surprises Burglar

A Lincoln Avenue resident was startled Tuesday when he turned on the lights in his kitchen and discovered a masked intruder there.

A Lincoln Avenue resident returned home just before 1 a.m. Tuesday to discover a masked intruder standing in his kitchen.

Police said the homeowner entered the rear of his home and turned on the kitchen light to reveal a man standing next to his refrigerator.

The man ordered the homeowner to the ground and then fled through the rear door of the house, said West Deptford police, leaving the shaken resident alone but unharmed.

Police say a search of the residence revealed that nothing had been taken. There was no sign of a weapon used in the burglary, they said. Neither did the suspect mention having a weapon, nor did the homeowner believe that he did.

A search of the house revealed that the burglar entered the home through an unlocked first-floor window, police said.
