West Deptford Police Charge Suspect in Maplewood Ct. Burglary

Joseph Mooney was arrested for burglary and theft of movable property. Police say he took military medals, two cameras and a knife from a victim's home.

A police investigation into the July 2 burglary of a home on Maplewood Court has resulted in the arrest of a West Deptford man on burglary and theft charges.

On July 2, a township resident reported that his home had been entered via an unlocked first floor window and burglarized at some time during the day.

Reported missing from within were six military medals, two digital cameras and a military knife, valued at more than $500 collectively.

After researching the incident, Investigator Jason Sherman named West Deptford resident Joseph P. Mooney as a suspect.

A consented search of Mooney's residence uncovered most of the stolen medals, the knife and several toys belonging to the victim, police said. He later confessed to taking them.

Mooney was charged with burglary and theft of moveable property and was released pending a court appearance.
