West Deptford Police Seeking Armed Robber

A man in a yellow hoodie allegedly robbed a convenience store Thursday night.

West Deptford police are searching for a man in connection with an alleged armed robbery at a convenience store Thursday night, Chief Craig Mangano said.

Just after 9 p.m., police responded to the Speedy Mart at the corner of Red Bank and Carter avenues, where a tall, thin man in jeans and a yellow hooded sweatshirt allegedly stole an unspecified amount of cash.

The cashier working at the time of the robbery told police the man said he had a gun, but didn’t show the weapon, and when the cashier opened the register, the robber grabbed a handful of money and ran down Red Bank Avenue toward Woodbury.

Ptl. Michael Franks and his K-9 partner, "Judge," attempted to track the alleged robber, which proved fruitless.

The department’s investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and Chief Mangano urged anyone who might have seen anything or has any information relating to the crime to call Inv. Michael Pfeiffer at 856-853-4599, x163.
