High School Senior Charged With Murder of Gloucester County Man

Abdullah H. Sheriff,19, was charged in the murder of Abenego Wesseh on Thursday.

A Willingboro High School senior was charged with the fatal shooting of a man whose body was discovered in Fairmount Park in Willingboro on Wednesday, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Willingboro Director of Public Safety Gregory Rucker announced Thursday afternoon.

Abdullah H. Sheriff,19, was charged with one count of murder for the shooting death of 21-year-old Abenego Wesseh. Sheriff was also charged with possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose. The firearm was recovered.

Wesseh is a resident of Williamstown, but also spends time with family in Willingboro.

Sheriff was arrested at the high school Thursday afternoon. He will make his first appearance in Superior Court in Mount Holly on Friday, at which time his bail will be set.

Wesseh’s body was found along a paved path in a wooded section of the park around 1:45 Wednesday afternoon. An investigation revealed that Wesseh was shot late Tuesday night. The motive remains under investigation.

The investigation was conducted by detectives from the Willingboro Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, with assistance from the Camden County Police Department and the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.
