Woodbury Man Charged in Alleged Gas Scam in Cherry Hill

Employees of a Cherry Hill dealership and a neighboring gas station conspired to profit off overcharges, police said.

A conspiracy between employees of the Cherry Hill Winner Ford dealership and those of the Sunoco next door, including a Woodbury resident, cost the dealership more than $40,000 and resulted in five arrests, Cherry Hill Police announced.

Three employees of Winner and two employees of the neighboring Sunoco gas station on Haddonfield-Berlin Road were arrested and charged in the conspiracy, which police said had gone on for several years.

A lengthy investigation by Detective Jason Snyder uncovered the theft, after an audit showed signs of excessive billing, police said.

Winner Ford employees Michael Johnson, 24, of Moorestown, Daniel Savin, 46, of Woodbury, and Robert J. Rodgers, 64, of Pennsauken, worked with Sunoco employees Sudagar Nokewal and Dilbagh Singh, both of Runnemede, to overcharge on gas the Winner employees never bought, police said.

All five men were charged with third-degree conspiracy to commit theft, and released on summonses, pending a court appearance in Superior Court in Camden.
