Committee Primaries Set, Horse Race for GOP

The Republicans will have a contested primary in June.

A surprise move by a pair of Republicans means there'll be a contested primary for township committee in June.

A total of four Republicans, along with , who will be unopposed in June, filed for township committee by Monday's 4 p.m. deadline.

Sam Cianfarini and Ray Chintall, , will face off against Loran Oglesby, the former county and township Republican Party chair, and newcomer Matt Mahon, who was the third candidate considered for endorsement by the local Republicans.

Notably absent from the Democratic primary was current deputy mayor Len Daws, who is opting to file as an independent, bypassing the primary and going directly to the November ballot.
