Cromwell Court Appeal Set for Next Week

A decision whether to stay a demolition order will come at next week's West Deptford township committee meeting.

A final decision on a home on Cromwell Court slated for demolition is looming, after the agreed to hear an appeal of the demolition order at the committee meeting next week.

Mayor Ray Chintall said the committee was satisfied that contractor Michael Crowley, who has an agreement in place to buy the home, has standing to appeal the order, and will hear arguments on the matter from both Crowley and residents on the court.

“That will be an open discussion,” Chintall said. “The decision will be made one way or the other.”

The hearing could bring to close ; residents who have lived for six years with the eyesore and say the house is dangerous have supported demolition, while Crowley said he could have the house gutted and restored in a matter of months if the order is rescinded.

The hearing will take place as part of the committee's regular meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. on Feb. 2.
