Five Things: Meetings, Auditions and Spring Nears

Here are five things you need to know this week.

1. The West Deptford school board has a budget workshop session scheduled for Saturday morning, and it's open to the public. The school budget is $43,175,595 for 2011-12, and this is one of at least two chances–along with the formal budget hearing on March 28–you'll have to ask questions before the final budget goes to the polls in April.

2. The zoning board is considering several solar power projects tonight at 7 p.m. Want to know what it means to you? Come out to the meeting, or check back here for the story tomorrow.

3. Spring sports practices are already underway, and preseason games start Friday—assuming the weather cooperates. We'll have complete preseason schedules up this week, and regular-season schedules up next week, along with season previews for all WDHS spring sports.

4. Auditions for the West Deptford Little Theater's teen show, Oklahoma!, are this Sunday at 7 p.m. at the old St. Matt's hall, now the John Paul II Learning Center, on Hessian Avenue. Come with a prepared song/monologue. Any questions can be directed to wdltss@comcast.net.

5. It's the last week of standard time before we make the switch to Daylight Saving Time overnight Saturday into Sunday this weekend. On the minus side, we lose an hour of sleep. On the plus side, it'll actually be daylight when you're leaving work.
