Five Things You Need to Know This Week

A few highlights from schools, sports and government.

  1. Teachers, administrators and board members were originally scheduled to meet with a state fact-finder Tuesday night in the ongoing contract negotiation process, but that meeting has been pushed back to March 15. There's still the potential for a step beyond the fact-finding level, should either side reject any potential contract that comes out of this level.
  2. The West Deptford High School wrestlers will take on the winner of Buena-Lower Cape May in the semifinals of the South Jersey, Group II playoffs Wednesday night, with a potential showdown with Delsea in the finals looming.
  3. The state's school report cards come out this week, which include everything from standardized test performance to student-faculty ratio to the district's financial information. We'll have the full story here.
  4. The girls' bowlers finished second at sectionals, and will compete at states this weekend. We'll catch up with them at the conference all-star meet today and talk to them about what it means to get this far.
  5. The Zoning Board meets Tuesday night, and should hear its first business of the year, after a snowy reorganization meeting back on Jan. 11 saw the lone application before members be postponed until this month.
