Kintzing Willing to Serve Another Term on Planning Board

Planning board chairman Scott Kintzing said that he is willing to continue as West Deptford's planning board chairman after his term expires at the end of 2012, despite a pending lewdness charge.

Kintzing has stated that he would love to continue to serve on the planning board after the board met for the final time this year on Dec. 18. 

“If I am asked to serve again, I would absolutely accept,” Kintzing said.

after allegedly stripping naked outside of Oakview Elementary School following a basketball game on Oct. 23. He is scheduled to go to court on Jan. 15.

The Dec. 18 planning board meeting was the first once since May and likewise the first once since the incident happened. At the end of the meeting, Kintzing was thanked by various board members for his 31 years of service.

“I enjoy serving the township, I do this for the community,” said Kintzing after the meeting. “You don't get paid; in 31 years, I've never made a dime.”

There was no mention of the Oct. 23 incident by any officials or the public at the meeting. Kintzing also did not talk about the incident. Instead he focused on the current state of West Deptford development and how the township needs to make a concerted effort to promote development.

“I still think our town has a lot to offer from a planning and developmental perspective,” he said.

Kintzing acknowledged that he won't be on the board forever and did say that it's always good to have new faces get more involved. However, his top concern is the well-being of West Deptford and that is why he wouldn't hesitate if asked to be on the board again, he said. Planning board members are appointed by the township committee, upon recommendation of the mayor.

“I do think that, sometimes, you need to step in, step up and then step out,” he said. “But I just hope we have enough experienced folks who can run the planning affairs of the town effectively.”
