Through a directive issued by Committeeman Samuel Cianfarini, the West Deptford Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline is available for all members of the public who wish to anonymously report government abuse.
At Thursday night’s meeting, Cianfarini explained that the line will be used to give residents a chance to voice concerns—without fear of retribution.
A press release on the hotline states the intention is “to identify situations where fraud, waste, or abuse may have occurred.” It goes on to say that situations of abuse can be defined as the abuse of one’s power as a government official. Cianfarini gave examples—such as a government official driving a company car for leisure.
The line does not have caller ID—residents are urged not to identify themselves when reporting a tip.
Residents only need to provide information on the incident, along with names and any possible evidence to support their claim.
The West Deptford Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline can be reached by dialing 1-856-845-4004, ext. 112. Reports can also be mailed anonymously to: FWA Hotline, P.O. Box 301, West Deptford, NJ 08086.
