West Deptford Committee Breaks Down Budget Saturday

The annual budget work session starts at 8 a.m.

After a few revisions to the budget already in the last two months, the West Deptford committee will offer a closer look at the process in their annual budget work session Saturday.

The 8 a.m. meeting at the will delve into the township’s budget, which was , with a 15.3¢ per $100 of assessed value tax increase.

Since then, work’s been underway to reduce that tax hit, and to get that increase down to 8.5¢ per $100 of assessed value, with the potential for it going even lower than that.

Besides the tax appeals situation, the township has been dealing with a general loss in ratables, which knocked $640,000 out of the revenue side of this year’s budget, as well as rising health care costs.

On the plus side, as Campo laid out in his presentation, West Deptford’s government is finally seeing money from Rivercove's Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) program, after , and PILOT payments from the have begun.
