West Deptford Special Budget Meeting Tonight at 7 p.m.

The West Deptford township committee will move to pass its 2013 budget at a special meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the West Deptford municipal building.

The agenda for the meeting, which became recently available on the township website, includes some movement of healthcare costs within the municipal budget cap.

But the biggest item on the agenda includes an item marked as a $746,000 cost savings "by reducing appropriations in certain line items and readjusting the amount of surplus to be used in the 2013 budget."

Surplus spending was the hot topic at the last meeting of the township committee, when Committeeman Sam Cianfarini proposed spending down the municipal surplus in order to introduce a flat tax for this year.
