Morgan Brown Bowls Her Way to Sectional Title

West Deptford's Morgan Brown finished with a flurry of strikes to win the sectional championship.

By leaving the second and fourth frames open in the final game of her series, West Deptford High School bowler Morgan Brown nearly saw any hope of grabbing a sectional title roll into the gutter.

What she did next cemented her place in the West Deptford history books.

Brown rolled eight consecutive strikes to close her game and became the Eagles’ bowler to win the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 championship. She needed every one of those strikes as she edged second-place finisher Amanda Nardiello of Brick, 678-671, in the three-game series.

“It was kind of falling apart in the third game with two opens in the second and fourth frame, but she struck out,” said West Deptford coach Aaron Burr. “She knew the two opens could kill her but she buckled down and it was impressive. She had a great day.”

Brown bowled games of 208, 244 and 226 for her 678 series. She will now go for a state title on Feb. 13.
