WDHS Wrestler Gets No. 1 Seed in Tournament

Last winter, Tyler Kaminski shocked many in South Jersey by winning a Region 8 Wrestling title. Meanwhile, Rory Bonner overcame long odds to not only make it to states, but place fifth.

The wait is almost over to find out which West Deptford High School wrestler will put their imprint on the South jersey wrestling map this year. The NJSIAA released its District 29 wrestling seeds allowing the grapplers to know who their opponents will be as they gear up for this weekend’s action in Delsea.

Kaminski and Bonner once again find themselves in positions favored to move into regionals, and they are not alone. Bonner, with his perfect 26-0 record, is the No. 1 seed at 195 pounds, and is the overwhelming favorite to win the weight class. Kaminski is the No. 3 seed at 120, but his past history indicates he has a legitimate shot of reaching the top of the podium.

Bonner's younger brother, Griffin, is also positioned well to reach the podium. Griffin Bonner (21-2) is the No. 2 seed at 106. Mark Fisher could also be making his first trip to regions if he is able to wrestle to his No. 2 seed at 220. Also keep an eye on Dustin Zuzulock, who is a No. 3 seed at 113.

Twelve West Deptford wrestlers in total will compete in the tournament, which begins Friday night with the pre-quarterfinals and continues with the quarterfinals, then follows with the semifinals and finals Saturday.
