Eagles' Hockey Earns No. 2 Seed

West Deptford will have a first-round bye in the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs.

The West Deptford High School field hockey team has earned a No. 2 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs.

The Eagles will receive a first-round bye and will face the winner of Saturday’s first-round contest between No. 7 Middle Township and No. 10 Sterling. That quarterfinal will be played on Nov. 1.

Defending champion Haddonfield is a No. 6 seed and will open up against No. 11 Deptford. The winner of that contest will take on Camden Catholic, which also received a bye.

On the other half of the bracket is Colonial Conference champion Collingswood. The Panthers will also receive a bye and will face the winner of No. 8 Lower Cape May and No. 9 Barnegat, in the quarterfinals.

West Deptford (16-2) reached the Group 2 finals last year, where it fell to Haddonfield. This year, the Panthers will be the team to beat. Collingswood—which was slotted in the Central Jersey grouping last season—defeated the Eagles 4-1 and 4-0 this season.
