Jakubowski Commits to LIU Baseball

The West Deptford High School senior will move to Division I next year.

Tom Jakubowski will graduate in the spring an Eagle, and start his fall as a Blackbird.

The senior three-sport athlete announced he's committed to Long Island University to play baseball, arguably the senior's strongest sport, where Jakubowski has thrived as a left-handed threat at the plate.

His decision came after a recent visit to the campus.

"The coaching staff was great, and I'll be going from one winning program to another winning program," Jakubowski told the Philadelphia Inquirer Wednesday.

As a junior, Jakubowski was dangerous whenever he came up to bat for . He hit .538 on the year, and did so while hitting for power. He stroked 10 doubles and eight homers on his way to a 51 RBI season. He also swiped 18 bases, only getting caught once, and was a key piece in the Eagles winning their .

Add to that a .979 fielding percentage, and he proved himself .

Jakubowski's older brother, Steve, is a forward on LIU's men's soccer team.
