Kevin Brockway Leads Eagles to Top-20 Finish at Arena/Rifkin Tourney

The senior fired an 83, the best among West Deptford golfers for the day.

West Deptford’s Kevin Brockway fired an 83, good for a tie for 34th overall, to lead the Eagles at the annual Carl Arena/Al Rifkin Memorial Tournament at Running Deer in Pittgrove Township Wednesday.

Brockway was the low man on the Eagles by 10 strokes on the afternoon, as the team combined for a 364 and 19th place in the field.

Given their tough morning draw in damp, drizzly conditions, head coach John Cobb said it was a respectable finish.

“I thought Kevin had a solid outing,” Cobb said. “I would always like to do better.”

Freshman Richie Stolz fired a 93 on the course, which winds tight fairways through pinelands and features monster bunkers and waste areas—a challenge for golfers at any level, let alone a freshman, Cobb said.

St. Augustine’s Cody Danzen was the overall winner, shooting 71 to beat Washington Township’s Joe Russo and Cherry Hill East’s Vince Kwon by two strokes.
